certified language assessment services for placement in LINC, ESL, and
other language training programmes. Assessments can take 3 hours

What is LINC? Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada , or LINC, is a program funded by the federal government, which offers free language training across the country for permanent residents. LINC facilitates the integration of immigrants into Canadian culture and society by providing basic language training based on themes. It includes social, cultural and economic information. Students will learn basic and advanced topics related to Canada and the Canadian way of life, while learning English at the same time. The purpose of the LINC program is to help newcomers become participating members of Canadian society as soon as possible. Eligibility Anyone over 17, with landed immigrant status, or allowed to remain in Canada with the government's intent to grant landing, is eligible to attend LINC classes. Canadian citizens, refugee claimants and visitors are not eligible for LINC but might be eligible for ESL programs. Childcare Free childminding is available for children over 19 months of age for LINC students. Please note that spaces are limited; it is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please register your children as soon as possible and do not miss this great opportunity to learn English, learn about Canada and meet many wonderful people from around the world! Computers LINC is often the first program that introduces many students to the world of computers. LINC students have the opportunity to use ESL software to enhance their language learning. Consider LINC Home Study If you cannot attend class due to your working hours, infant care, or illness/ disability; you can study English at home through correspondence or online. Students have access to ESL materials and weekly one-on-one teacher support. Talk to the LINC assessor about this option. For more
